Cool Heat Shield

Hi everybody!

My heat shield keeps coming loose. I just asked our mechanic here at work if he could help me a bit, and he put it all back together, but now it's rattling beyond belief. Is this common? Is there an easy fix?

hey Dawn !!!!!!

about the heat shield, he probably overtightened the clamps. i assume he tightened them to alleviate the problem but probably stripped them out in the process (very easy to do). i would take one off, and go buy some new ones. take it with you to match up at the store. your local or chain hardware store should have them, or an auto parts store. replace them all just don't overtighten them. good luck, they can be a pain to get to stop rattling.

thanks for the tip! I'll try to figure it out. I may stop by the parts store on my way home from work today.

Hi dawn!!!!! yup David is right, thats probabally what happened, if it is an aftermarket exhaust, if it's still stock then the rivets holding the shields are loose then you can re rivet them.

Appliances and electronic devices derive their power from smoke. If the smoke escapes, they will no longer work

talk to the guy who tried to fix it. mention that a friend of yours runs a dealership, yadda yadda, and hopefully he can help you out.
it's a pretty simple job.
