Honda Supersport

I've got my eye on the 2004 Honda CBR 600RR.

i think i might buy one before the year is out.
They do a lovely metallic blue version which i hope i can find one for sale.

my 900 Custom needs another bike to talk to when they're locked in the garage at night.

Those CBR's are sharp bikes, always have liked them. Unfortunately, I've never had the chance to ride one.

Have you looked at Kawi's Z1000? 1,043cc in-line-four engine and all-new quick-steering aluminum chassis connected to a new horizontal rear suspension design.

Course, for a sport-touring bike, the Honda NT700V looks pretty sweet.

insurance on a 1000cc would cripple me

and i don't want a sport touring bike

haha. i had no idea what the NT700 thing was...
over here it's called the Deauville.

I'd rather go for the Pan (ST1300) though if i was gonna get something like that. Or maybe a VFR.

but me wants a supersport!

and i just put a deposit on one today.

I would not discount the NT700V from Honda too quickly. I picked one up from a Kawasaki/Honda dealer that I know, and it has been amazing.

I did my post break-in valve adjustment at 2,500 miles and then checked them again at 8,000 and they were spot on after the initial break-in period. They are simple to adjust, old time Honda screw adjusters.

It is intuitive to ride, and in my opinion is a street refined revision of the Honda Transalp. Really a long overdue type of bike for riders like me that want to cover 1,500 miles in a week, but not have to fight poor fuel economy and tons of extra weight.

The luggage and rear fender unit looks a bit scooterish, but ten minutes with a sawsall and grinder fixed the wart appearance and it now looks decent.

The addition of a travel trunk and it is hard to beat for just jumping on and hauling out a couple hundred miles in a day with no problem at all.

Fuel mileage for me is right at 53 mpg highway, and I seldom ride over 65 mph anymore, and do not do any full squirt throttle takeoffs. Town riding is in the high 30's to low 40's.

I ride with friends that have the Concours and the big brother to this Honda, and they all made fun of the baby NT700V, until they rode it for a while. Now they are trying to find buyers for their bikes and are going to switch.

An update for those that are interested.

I recently purchased a NOS 2008 Kawasaki Mean Streak, and have now ridden both from Portland, Or to San Diego, CA and back.

Rigs intended for different market segments, but the small displacement Honda will walk all over the Meanie on the freeways, is way more comfortable on a long haul, and gets far better fuel mileage on the freeway.

However, for just plunking around on the under 100 mile local rides the Meanie is much more fun and gets better fuel economy at lower speeds when dealing with stop and go traffic and putting along at 55 or less.

I'd love to be able to get different bikes for different modes of riding. You could really customize it just for that.
