crappy ^&**%*$

So of all the crazy things I do and have neer been injured its finally happen.

We went out in the boonies this weekend to stay at the cabin in the woods. To ride the 4 wheelers in some desolate areas. The trails we rode were by far the most difficult terrain I have been on with a dirt bike or ATV. Huge rock outcroppings on the trail. A few scary moments but everything came through fine.
Everyone had a great time. Then Sunday morning I jump up on the rear truck tire to grab something from the bed and jump off and land on an exposed tree root. My foot slipped off that and hit the dirt bending my ankle in a very unnatural position. Needless to say I may have a broken ankle. I went and had xrays done, waiting to here back from the doctor. If not broken its def ripped something. When it bent I heard noises that that you should not be hearing from your ankle. Its very swollen and black and blue. Can hardly get around. I can only hope its not a big a deal as the Doctor is saying. Hell I was not even done with the riding season as of yet. But in a side not the ATV ride was freaking awesome. The trails were dangerous and cool at the same time. I do no think anyone wants to see pics of my bruised ankle so I will refrain from that. Even my foot below the ankle is blue.
I wasn't even doing anything remotely dangerous at the time and that is what burns my azz the most.

It's looking pretty nasty. Very bruised all down the side and a large one on the other side. With that much bruising I would say it is broke but still no word from the doc. Wont change much around the house, it's not like he does much anyway.

Just got off the phone with the Doctor. No break, in some ways that is worse than if it was. A ankle break heals better and faster than a sprain. So I wonder how long until the swelling goes down and I can walk correctly now?

Man, Brett, I'm really sorry to hear about this. You're probably right that a break would have been easier, but then my mom broke her ankle and was in crutches for *months*, so that's not always the case, either. I hope it gets better soon.

I've noticed as I get older that I get injured easily from the stupidest things. When Deron was here, I had managed to hurt my back. I don't know how I did it, either. Rolling over in bed? I had just had surgery on my knee, and my back was in worse shape than my knee. Sheesh.

At least you know there's one more sad person who's out for the riding season--me. I've been hesitant to get on the bike since my surgery, and I'm getting the other knee done on Oct. 8. I won't be riding until mid-winter. Here's hoping the weather is good this winter.
