textile or mesh jackets

Just wanted to throw out a question about textile or mesh jackets. I have a river road textile jacket that was spossed to be water proof....well maybe it is when its a warm rain, but i wore it riding with Alan in the mountians in the rain and at 35 degrees and its not waterproof at all, and after almost 2 hours of riding in near freezing and wet temps, decieded that this jacket isnt what I needeed then, I do like it for regular riding though. what jackets work the best for you all?

Appliances and electronic devices derive their power from smoke. If the smoke escapes, they will no longer work

I have a textile jacket that I really like. With the liner, I can wear it in the coldest winter weather and be warm. Without the liner it's great for cool spring and fall weather. But I've always worn rain gear over it when it was wet outside, so I don't know how waterproof it is.

I can't wear the textile jacket in the summer. It's too hot. That's when I wear my mesh jacket.

Alan has three jackets--a textile jacket exactly like mine, a lighter weight textile jacket (made by BMW), and a mesh jacket. He really likes the BMW jacket. Wears it most of the time.

I would not think any textile/mesh jacket would be rainproof. I have a mesh jacket and a textile jacket. I swap back and forth depending on the sun on which to wear.

you can get mesh jackets that have a rain proof liner. most Joe Rocket textile jackets run that way. i don't care for it, because when it is warm out, the jacket is not waterproof. i have had good luck with Tourmaster jackets. usually, when they say they are waterproof, they are. and it is the jacket itself, not the liner.
