Avon Storm AV55 and AV56 - First Ride Report
Over the summer, I ended up wearing out the tires on my ST1100. The bike originally had Metzler Roadtec Z6es which were fine, but I had some little issues that gave me fits. First off, whenever I would get a little ways above highway speed, the front end would start to shimmy a bit. Well, when the cords finally started showing on the back, I decided to replace them with the Avon Storms. All I can say after the first ride is WOW! These things ride awesome!!!
I took the bike out for about a 100 mile ride after putting the new tires on. The first thing I noticed is how smooth the bike was now. It felt like I was riding on air! It was smooth and straight as an arrow. I got to the first set of twisties, and that's when I noticed the biggest difference. The tires corner really good. I went into some of the corners with a lot more speed than I would have before and didn't even worry about my speed. It was nice.
As for the reliability of these tires, I have heard some pretty good things. A lot of other ST riders have been running them and report upwards of 10k miles out of a set. As far as I am concerned, that isn't bad, but only time will tell with my bike and my riding style.
Anyways, if you are thinking of picking a pair of these up, I would say don't hesitate.
