So what do you guys think of the new 1700?
I really like the full dresser! I've read everything I can find so far, though, and I can't find the precise specs anywhere (HP, torque, etc.). That's what I'm most interested in.
Waiting now to see what, if anything, is announced tomorrow. This is SO exciting!!

honestly, i don't care for it at all. i HATE that they changed the Nomad bags, that one was of my favorite parts of the Kawi bagger. don't care for the front fairing, and the trunk is too small. i think they should have gone with at least a 6 gallon tank as well. oh, and the website lists the torque as 108, or somewhere right around there. doesn't say when the motor makes it, but it is listed now.

Yeh, not sure I care for the fairing, but hte belt drive is a huge plus IMO.

Well, I still want an inline engine instead of a V-Twin. So we'll see. I hate to leave Kawasaki, though, so I'll just have to try them all! :-) It's all moot, anyway, until I get a job.

i am having the opposite problem. i want to stick with a V engine like the VFR. if i don't like the new VFR, then i will have to go for an inline.

Haven't seen the specs yet. I'm curious about how they got the 1700. The 1600 was essentially the same engine as the 1500 with stroke added to get more cc's. If they did something similar to get 1700, I wouldn't be interested.

Just the addition of a belt drive is a positive step in putting more power to the ground. Even if it the motor is a re-worked 1600, with that belt drive I reckon it would have noticeably more grunt.
Too bad about the saddlebags though, I really loved the look of the Nomad's bags, they were distinctive. These kinda look like aftermarket bags, well to me anyways.

Just checked the Kawasaki website. Same bore as the 1500/1600 (102mm), stroked to 104mm. Not in the market right now anyway, I'm a conservative kinda guy. We'll see what the history looks like in a couple of years.

I was hoping against hope that Kawasaki would come out with an inline four for this next model year. I'm SO disappointed. :-(
Ah well. I can't get a new bike right now, anyway.

They have, it's called a Concours14 Julie. Step up to the plate and then you can spend day after day feeding on Alan's FJR..........
