Maybe you're getting ready for a Goldwing. A little pricey for my taste but I've always been impressed with their steering geometry and reliability.

believe it or not Brian, i was chatting with some folks this summer about buying one eventually. it is going to happen, just not quite ready for one yet. probably when the kids are a tad older and Sherry starts riding with me more. they handle a LOT better than any touring cruiser and have gobs more power, so that is right up my alley.

Yeah. I give some people a little crap about them but the 1800 wing is a pretty impressive machine.

They told us at the show sometime around July. our rep is going to get one and we are going to do a ride day on the one he brings out, but that wont be until next spring.

Nothing against the kaw Voyager, but If I was going to spend that kinda cash I would go with a Goldwing as well. I cant wait to order my new 2015 anniversary edition Goldwing.

If you do decide to go for the cruiser, I do really like the looks of the Street Glide. I sat on one the other week, and aside from the peanut sized gas tank (well, compared to the V2K everything seems somehow smaller..........) but aside from that the bike actually felt very comfortable, ergonomically speaking. And I love the sleek look of the Street Glide as well. Get a topbox for those long trips and you'd be set up.
I bet that given the "economic condition" down there, you could proabably find a good used Street Glide at a very decent price.

Putting aside the fact you are a fickle motorcycle junkie, and what you really need is $250,000 and a six bay garage, I think you should look closely at the 09 Street Glide. The frame/engine mounting/tires/lean angle/throttle and exhaust are new and more likely to be your style. As we all know.... you are the one who will be making payments, you are the one who will be throwing your leg over it. You've got to be happy. Buying the Road King when I love the Nomad and the V2k so much was literally painful for me, but I love the bike and how it looks and how it ..."feels". Test drive (rent if you have to so you can REALLY work it) an 09 (08s are not the same). If you love(too big a nut to just like it) it and it won't break you, buy it and don't look back.
