Unless there's some major frame or triple damage, I plan on getting her back on the road. I love that bike and really don't want to giver her up. Right now it's a waiting game, I'm taking to the shop on Friday to get the estimate done and then we'll go from there.
Yup, it left several marks, lol! I'm not sure what exactly happened, but from the knees down I'm beat up, my frickin' toes are bruised, lol! Mornings really sux along with trying to survive a 10 hr shift in a mfg/welding shop.
Thanks again for the good thoughts guys!!

Just thought I'd add a quick update. I'm still a little sore, but doing better. I've been to my chiropractor 5 times in the last 2 weeks, lol! Kinda knocked things out of whack, but feelin' much better.
On the bike side-
After spending way too much time on the phone with ins. agents, here's what I'm looking at, the bike is totaled. Official estimate= $7758. State Farms value of the bike= $7500. By Kansas law if the damages excede 75% of the value of the vehicle or if there's a safety issue the vehicle is totaled. Well, we exceded the 75%. There's a couple other things that the ins. co. must pay me for, taxes and registration, bringing the grand total that they'll give me $7993.
Option 1- Buy it back and fix it myself. Buying it back will cost me $2000, leaving me with $5993 to fix it up. There are 2 things that bother me about that option, there's a very good chance the frame is tweaked, there is spot on the frame on the left down tube that took some of the impact and bent the left front engine mount. There's also a chance that the input shaft from the shifter is bent, the left footpeg mount and shift lever are bent to hell. If there's any internal damage to the tranny then that'll eat up a chunk of the 5993. Other considerations are that once totaled it must be re-registered with a salvaged title and in order to do that it must be inspected by the Kansas Highway Patrol. While this may or may not work to my advantage, I'm not real comfortable with the cons or continuing payments on something I'm not sure of.
Option 2- Pay off the bank and put the remainder as a down payment on another Mean Streak. The dealer has an '08, red, 800 miles, pipes(V&H I think)hypercharger, aftermarket grips, vista-cruise, sissy bar, windshield(not sure what kind) for $7500. I haven't even seen it yet, but I ran the numbers by my banker and she said she'd do it.
Option 3- Pay off the bank, save what's left, add to it over the winter and have a good chunk of change for a Mean Streak come spring. It also saves me from having payments for a few months. I can feel fortunate in the fact that I still have my VN900 I can ride on the few nice days we'll have between now and spring.
Right now those are my options, I haven't commited to anything, more options may present themselves. I also have a few more calls to make.
I'm beyond ****ed right now, words can't begin to describe it. You work hard, put alot of time, effort, money, and yourself into something and to have it taken from you in an instant and get screwed. The ins. industry is the largest unregulated scam in America(like we didn't know that already). They told me on the phone, "We just want to get you back to where you were before the accident" EXCUSE ME? WTF kind of statement is that? I told them then find me a bike exactly like mine or repair mine to what it was before your client hit me. Response=We wish we could but we can only give you fair market value, blah, blah, blah. The conversation went back and forth for 45 minutes. I stayed calm, didn't yell or cuss, but heatedly debated everything. Finally when she couldn't answer my questions she basically said that by law they're only required to go so far and that's all the farther they're going.
Sorry for the novel guys, but I just had to vent. I've been down before, but never in this situation and had never had to deal with ins. like this, talk about an eye-opener.

WOW ! That sucks. Glad you are ok ! Unless you have a use for a parts bike, I don't think I would want to repair that one, it took a pretty good hit alright. It's sad when a motorcycle you like so much, gets so tore up that it really isn't realistic to repair it, I get real attached to my bikes. Don't blame ya at all for venting. Glad you have a backup bike to get ya through till you can replace that one. The most important thing is you get to ride another day.

I agree with Dave... don't trust the old one. As much as it sucks to get rid of a ride ya like and trust, it just ain't worth it.
I'm just glad you're ok!

I'm feeling much better. I'm doing pretty good physically, still got a slight limp, it'll take a while for the bottom of the heel of my left foot to heal, nothing broken, but badly bruised and my right shin must've taken a hell of hit as well, if you've ever had shin splints you know what I'm feeling then, lol! Mentally, I've taken a little beatin' too, or maybe I'm just a wuss, lol, I just know that I've been in a funk. Riding's not a problem, I took the 900 out the next 2 days after the wreck(just reinforced my wifes belief that I'm insane)and it was great, no problems, I pay very close attention when I'm next to the yellow line, more-so than before. Everything about the deal just got me down and when they totaled it, well, it's just like having the wind knocked out of you. But I had to start looking at my options, so I spent many hours figuring, looking at bikes, talking it over with my wife, sleep didn't come easy. By yesterday morning, I'd had enough, decisions had to be made. A lot of thoughts flew around in my head on the hour drive to the dealer. After dealing with some ins. crap I went and talked to the service manager and the mechanic. They were concerned about the input shaft to the tranny, the shift lever was bent up pretty bad, the shaft was tweaked as well, slightly, but enough to see and that meant if I was to rebuild it, it'd have to be opened up. It would take more than I was comfortable with away from the remaining funds to rebuild it. I thought about it a bit as I looked over my bike and made the decision to let her go. A rebuild wouldn't do her justice, especially not with the funds I have(or don't have would maybe be better)available. I will not be rebuilding her.
Now the whole time we're talking and I'm looking over my bike, the '08 is sitting right next to it. It was a weird picture, it was like looking at the older one, cut down in her prime, just wanting peace and the younger one just chompin' at the bit waiting for her chance to prove herself. The dealer said, "Keys are in her, taker her for a ride." Now who am I to argue, lol! Man! It felt good to be on a MS again!!!
She's an '08 with 887 miles, remainder of factory warranty, Memphis Shades shield, de-baffled stock pipes, hyper-charger and tank bib. She hasn't had her 1st oil change yet. I didn't buy her, but I'm going to try to. The bank said they'd do it, but I have to see what payments will be before I sign off. I'll know next week.
I gotta thank all the folks here for the positive comments and thoughts, it's been a big help. Being able to come here, vent, and get some of this stuff off my chest is has done me alot of good. THANKS!!!!!
I'm sure there'll be more to come, I'll keep updating until this is done, reguardless of what option I end up choosing.

See, just like we said, you're back out on the road on new MS already.
Glad you're on the mend too, soon you'll be feeling like your old self again.

About insurance. ANY time you put after market parts on a bike document it!, also check to see if you can get a rider on the policy to cover the after market parts. My policy will only cover actual value of the bike if wrecked, but the rider only costs $36.00 a year, and covers all the aceassories on the bike and they total up to about the value of the bike itself.
Just my 2 cents,, but be informed, never assume that your insurance will cover everything.. I know my insurance co dont like me since my wreck in 2007,, I zoomed through the $5000.00 medical coverage befor ethe first day was done, and they paid me $6400.00 and change for the bike.. needless to say, my rates went up quite a bit...
