Default Any musicians here?

I've been playing for about 35 years... learned to play the guitar in '74 and piddled around in garage bands that never went anywhere until May of 2004 when I was asked to pick up the bass and play for a new band forming called Southern Reign.

After playing nothing but rhythm guitar for close to 30 years, this was a jump for me. I was pretty much always a strummer and not a picker so hitting specific strings was a new deal Fortunately, they were patient, as we spent a year in the garage getting ready to gig. We did our first gig in May of 2005 and have been jammin' ever since. I've never looked back.

Who else here plays? Have you been in any bands?

For me, music is like tattoos. I love to watch and listen, but manual dexterity keeps me in the spectator seat.

Later,

Charlie

I have been playing professionally for appx 40 years, started in grade school playing weekends at a local bars with local musicians, then at 14 & 15 started playing with a group from Billings, Mt at different venues, had the opportunity at a very young age to open shows for Merle Haggard, Ken Curtis, Gosden Brothers etc and then on to my early twenties touring the road with a couple of very popular regional bands and opening shows for Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (several times), Dan Seals, Sawyer Brown, Classic Rock Allstars, Black Oak Arkansas, Johnny Rivers, Rodney Crowell etc. Semi retired from music in 2005 but still play concert stuff and do some studio work as well as gigging a couple times a month. I play primarily bass guitar but can play acoustic, use to play lead guitar several years ago. I use a Lakland 4 string bass as my primary, Peavey Dyna bass, Dean acoustic bass when need be and a fretless 4 string for studio work. I use a Sans Amp run into a Peavey 400 Head with a Peavey D118 single eighteen and for small venues I use a 15" Carvin kickback 120 watt. I love music and have a fairly extensive home studio where I can get my fix as well.

Don't let anyone tell ya the audience isn't just as important. Trust me, it gets pretty boring playing for 4 walls in a garage

Yeah, without people like me musicians wouldn't live in big houses. Sometimes I'm really glad I dumped all my money into CDs that play music instead of the stock market.

Later,

Charlie
