ya thanks Gene! Thats what annie said. I was looking at it today, and what is rattling is the very top part of the shield...I don't get it, it doesn't seem to be attached to anything...I don't know, maybe I will take it to Mel and see if he can help me...It's not just the little sheild over the pipe, its the whole big piece...grrr.

Ok, I need some more help with this issue! The ring won't stay where it belongs, so the top of the shield isn't secured at all, only at the mid point. So.. this morning I tried to loosen the ring by the screw, and it did get larger, but I could get the ring to come apart nor could I get it tight enough to stay on the hook behind the shield.
This is so friggin' frustrating. It seems so simple but I can't do it. Do those rings come apart or do I tighten it by turner the screw? And it's in such a tight spot that you can't really get in there...ugh.

The ring goes around the pipe. Then the ring attaches by a welded on clip to the heat shield. You have to have the ring in the right spot to slip over the clip, then you tighten the ring to secure the heat shield to the pipe.

Ok, so I don't have to take the ring (clamp) all the way off to get it tighter, I just turn the screw...I can get it over the clip, but i'm having trouble getting it tight enough...
when the bike is running it vibrates enough that the clamp rides up and off the clip...wtf? it's so aggravating!!

I would suggest getting a new clamp and tighten it as tight as possible.
