I would like to get some opinions on a backrest...I know I can buy one right from Kawasaki...but I don't want to spend $250 on one...However, with the decision to go to Red Lodge this year...I'd really like to get one...
I just saw this one on Ebay...and would just like a little feedback from all you veterans...
i don't think it will give you much support. it looks like it only relies on that one piece of thin metal that slides under the rear seat. no way that is going to stay straight under any kind of pressure. i would keep an eye out for a used factory one, maybe a seat with one built in, or one similar to a factory one that uses the fender strut bolts for mounting.
Dawn, there are lots of them that will work on ebay for around 200.00 . There is even one in a bidding war for current price of 86.00. So its doable, you just have to keep your eyes open.
Cary and Julie both had those back rests...I'll probably get one...just trying to save a buck...which usually costs more than what I saved in the first place..LOL Thanks for your input!

I think Cary has the Protec backrest. I have the Kawasaki one. They're both really nice and well worth the money. I don't think I could do long rides anymore if I didn't have mine. Do you have highway pegs, Dawn? There's nothing like sitting back against your backrest and putting your feet up! :-)
I do have have pegs! Last long trip I used my luggage as my backrest...I stuffed on of the pertruding pockets with towels and clothes. It worked great, but it was sturdy enough.
